Prestige is the moment Idle Breakout stops being a game about buying balls and starts being a game about resets. You throw away your level, your money and every ball upgrade you’ve bought, and in exchange you get gold to spend on things that never go away. It feels awful the first time. It’s also the only way anyone reaches the levels people post screenshots of.

The right side of that table is the whole point. Ball upgrades are temporary by design, so every run is meant to be spent and then cashed in. Gold, skills and prestige upgrades are the only things that stack across runs.
How to idle breakout Prestige
There’s nothing else to it. No cooldown, no penalty for resetting often, and no limit on how many times you can do it.
Why Can’t I Prestige?
Almost always the same reason: you haven’t cleared enough levels for the reset to be worth anything.
Gold is paid out at a rate of 1 per 20 levels cleared, so before level 20 there’s simply nothing to claim. Reset at level 15 and you’d hand back your whole run for zero gold.
The other thing worth checking is whether you’ve confused prestige with the skills menu. Boss fights and skill points live in the Skills tab and have nothing to do with resetting.
When Should You Reset?
There’s no fixed level. Judging the right moment to reset is the core skill in any incremental game, and this one is no different. The honest rule is the one experienced players use: when the time it takes to clear a level slows down noticeably, collect the gold and start over.
In practice that usually means one of these:
A single level is taking more than a minute.Your damage has stopped keeping pace with brick health. Another few upgrades won’t fix that, but a Ball Power Multiplier will.
Upgrade prices have outrun your income.If you’re watching a counter tick up toward one purchase, your run is finished. You’re not progressing, you’re waiting.
You’ve just cleared a multiple of 20.Gold comes in whole numbers, so resetting one level after a gold brick wastes 19 levels of progress toward the next one. Push to the next 20 before you claim.
You need a specific upgrade to get past a wall.Bosses that heal faster than you can damage them, or black bricks with too much health, are both permanent upgrade problems rather than run problems.
Early on, resets come fast. Your first few might only be 40 or 60 levels apart, and that’s fine. Later, when your multiplier is high, runs get much longer because you’re pushing deep enough that each gold brick takes real time to reach.

A few details that change how you spend.
Ball Power Multiplier is the only upgrade that scales with everything else you own. Every ball, every power upgrade, every skill sits behind it. It’s also the thing that makes bosses beatable and the reason anyone gets into five figure levels.
Ball Speed Increase stops at 10x, so it’s a finish-and-forget purchase. Worth knowing alongside it: the game caps ball speed at 40, or 60 if you’ve bought the speed limit skill. Once a ball is at the cap, more speed upgrades on it do nothing.
The VAUS Laser starts at 100 damage and scales up to 10,000. It fires without any input from you, which makes it excellent while you’re idle.
Level Complete Cash Bonus pays a percentage of the level you just finished. So a 3200% bonus after clearing level 369 pays out a bit over a million. That’s real money early on and close to irrelevant once you’re earning trillions.
Maximum Number of Balls gets more expensive each time, roughly one and a half times the previous purchase once you’re a few levels in. Buy it steadily rather than in bursts.
What to Buy First
Your first gold goes into Ball Power Multiplier. Nothing else compounds. It’s expensive and it feels slow, but every point of it makes your entire lineup better forever.

Finish Ball Speed early. It only goes to 10x, so it’s cheap to complete relative to the others and then you never think about it again.
Pick up the VAUS Laser when you can spare the gold. It’s not urgent, but it works while you’re away and it scales a long way.
Leave Level Complete Cash Bonus for later. It’s the weakest of the five in the long run. Grab it when the others are eating gold faster than you can earn it.
Where Gold Comes From
Two places.
Gold bricks, which appear every 20 levels. Break one and you get gold. This is your main income.
Bosses, which also pay gold on top of the skill point. Another reason the black brick and boss loop is worth engaging with rather than ignoring.
One trap worth knowing about: the 2X Gold power up only works if you use it during a gold brick level. Save it, then spend it on the level where a gold brick is due. Later in the game, when you’re clearing levels in under a second, it’s easy to blow straight past a gold brick without noticing it was there.

The mistake almost everyone makes with Idle Breakout prestige is treating it as a last resort. It isn’t a punishment for getting stuck, it’s the actual progression system, and the sooner you start using it the faster everything else moves.
So watch your clear times rather than your level number. When a wall starts dragging, finish the run to the next multiple of 20, claim the gold, and put it into the multiplier. The next run will get further in less time, and that’s the entire game from here on.
